Outcomes

What has actually changed

Not activities or outputs — documented results where our work changed a decision, a policy, or an institution.

  • Documented result

    Landmark IDP ruling

A court ruling recognised the rights of internally displaced persons, secured through H.A.N.A.'s documentation, legal advocacy and sustained public pressure on the case.

  • Documented result

    ZVAP working group established

A permanent local working group (ZVAP) was created, giving young people a formal, ongoing channel to raise issues directly with municipal institutions.

  • Documented result

    Three-cycle electoral observation

Independent, youth-led observation across three consecutive electoral cycles produced public reports that fed into how local elections are scrutinised.

  • Documented result

    Municipal plastic management engagement

Youth-led advocacy moved the municipality to commit to concrete action on plastic and waste management, turning a local campaign into a policy conversation.

In depth

Featured case studies

Four projects, followed from the first public record to a documented institutional result.

  • Kot

    Legal advocacy

A ruling that forced an answer

When Lezhë's institutions refused to disclose school-condition records, H.A.N.A. filed a formal freedom-of-information request. After months of pressure, the Commissioner ruled in H.A.N.A.'s favour — one of the first documented cases of a northern-Albanian civil society organisation triggering a binding institutional response.

  • Studenta

    Electoral observation

Watching three election cycles, station by station

Across the 2019, 2021 and 2023 votes, H.A.N.A. deployed trained youth observers to more than forty polling stations. The programme documented irregularities in real time, filed formal complaints, and published station-level findings that fed directly into national observation reports.

  • Environment

From dumped plastic to a public contract

H.A.N.A. mapped illegal dumping along the Drin river and pressed the municipality to disclose its waste-management contracts. Sustained, evidence-based advocacy moved a hidden arrangement into the open and put the city's plastic problem onto the council agenda.

  • Youth media

The newsroom that named what others wouldn't

H.A.N.A.'s youth newsroom investigated a local story mainstream outlets avoided, combining public records with on-the-ground reporting. The published investigation reached thousands and set the standard for the centre's evidence-first journalism.
